EXCELLENT!! That's HUGE and by far the biggest for NPLB! Nice find Cruelty!

Cruelty 2008-08-12 10:49

Thanks  It's also the largest prime for PrimeSearch so far

TimSorbet 2008-08-12 11:46

Wow! Nice prime! Congrats!
That'll probably stand for a while as PrimeSearch's largest prime on the Top 5000.

847*2^518645-1 is prime

789*2^518911-1 is prime

This now moves Primesearch ahead of the 12121 search into 11th place on score on the top-5000 site. That was a BIG effort to move from 12th to 11th! By comparison, moving up 2 more places to 9th should be relatively easy and should be accomplished a little before we hit n=600K on our 2 main drives assuming no big primes by the 2 projects just ahead of us. One of those projects has not had a prime in 4 years and the other has not had a prime in 7 months so that seems unlikely.

Wow!!! So close to my last one! This is one rank above my last prime, and has the same number of digits. My last one starts with 1504455... and this one starts with 6294749...

Oh, wow! Congrats on a nice pair! If I had to guess, I doubt there are 2 primes so close together for ANY n>200K for all values of k<=1001.

If you have a little time and are a little bored, see what the closest 2 n-values together are for primes on the top-5000 site where k<=1001 and n>200K.

This prime has a 'cool' look with a lot of 9's in it:
