norm vs size
Hello,
I've been comparing what msieve says about a poly during GNFS poly selection and what it says during -nc. Eg:
# norm 1.023739e-12 alpha -6.751675 e 5.557e-11 rroots 5 skew 942118.35, size 8.466e-13, alpha -6.752, combined = 5.557e-11 rroots = 5
alpha, e/combined and rroots match, but does the norm relate to the size score? The ones I've looked at norm is a bit larger than the size, but I don't know if that's always true. Chris |
The two size-based scores are calculated differently; the first score above accounts for the skew, while the second one has a more complex definition and is independent of skew. For the first one, smaller is better, but for the second one larger is better.
